The Facts

There are 2,500 poultry farms in the UK and should you drive any distance you will unknowingly drive past thousands of chickens that make up the national flock of 125 million birds. British farmers annually rear almost a billion chickens but each week we still import 5.5 million birds from predominantly Brazil and Asia to make up the shortfall in our domestic demand.
Indeed we now gain almost half of our annual protein from chicken products.
Below are links to how the UK Poultry industry operates and what affect the proposed site at Whin Close will have on areas such as the local environment, health, traffic and animal welfare.
